The Dover Century Club supports the DAFB Fisher House
DOVER, Del. (May 17, 2023) The Dover Century Club has contributed to the Fisher House for Families of the Fallen at Dover Air Force Base (DAFB). The Fisher House provides care, service, and support for families of fallen military personnel who come to DAFB to witness their loved ones returning home to American soil. The club donated money, kitchen items, and children’s toys, and created a rose garden for the patio. The beautiful garden, planted with pink and yellow roses, winterberry bushes, a fragrant tea olive tree, and ornamental grasses, will provide a place of solace and comfort for grieving families. Lord’s Landscaping, Inc. of Millville, Del. donated the tea olive tree and ornamental grasses.
The Dover Century Club is celebrating 126 years of volunteer service dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others. Founded in 1897, the club is a member of the Delaware State Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the world’s largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational women’s volunteer service organization.

December 12, 2022 - Hello Ladies, I had the pleasure of representing GFWC Delaware Women’s Clubs at The Delaware General Assembly Program for Wreaths Across America, at Legislative Hall, Dover DE. The mission of the program is to remember, honor, and teach by laying wreaths at all 50 state capitals and the District of Columbia.
It was a lovely ceremony with speakers that included the Honorable John C. Carney, Governor of Delaware; Senator David P. Sokola, President Pro Tempore Nominee; Senator Bruce C. Ennis, Past Chair, Senate Veterans Affairs Committee; Major General Michael R. Barry, Adjutant General, Delaware National Guard; Colonel Barry Flack, 436th Maintenance Generator Group Commander, DAFB; and Joshua Matticks, Executive Director, Office of Veterans Services. Special honored guests were the Gold Star Mothers and Gold Star Families.
Wreaths were placed at the various Monuments that encircle the Legislative Hall:
Medal of Honor Monument, World War II Memorial, World War I Memorial, Delaware Women’s Service Monument, Gulf Wars/Afghanistan War Monument, Dover Light Infantry Memorial.
At a later date, a wreath will be placed at the Korean and Vietnam Wars Missing in Action Memorial
